A meeting of the Headquarters for the Elimination of the Consequences of Emergencies in Kyiv and the Kyiv Region was held under the chairmanship of First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal.
Participants reviewed the current situation in the energy system of the capital and the Kyiv region, which remains extremely tense.
Denmark will provide DKK 150 million (approximately EUR 20 million) in additional support to meet the urgent needs of Ukraine’s energy sector.

Ukraine’s energy sector has suffered an irreplaceable loss. Oleksii Brekht, a member of the Board of NEC “Ukrenergo” — a person who dedicated over a quarter of a century to serving the light — has passed away. He followed a dignified and honest path from engineer to head of the system operator. A graduate of Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, he began his career in 1999 at the Kyiv Pumped Storage Power Plant.
- The situation in Ukraine’s power system remains difficult. Efforts to eliminate the consequences of ongoing Russian attacks on energy infrastructure facilities are continuing. Repair crews of energy companies and district heating utilities are working around the clock.
- As a result of overnight enemy attacks, consumers in Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhzhia regions were left without power as of the morning. Emergency repair and restoration works have been launched in all affected regions.
Under the chairmanship of First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal, a regular meeting of the Headquarters for the Elimination of the Consequences of Emergencies in Kyiv and the region was held. Participants reviewed reports on the situation in the capital following another large-scale enemy attack.
First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal met with the Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development, Aukje de Vries. The discussions focused on continued support for Ukraine’s energy system, in particular the provision of equipment for gas production.
“I am grateful for the assistance already provided and planned for Ukraine. This is vital support for our energy sector,” Denys Shmyhal stated.

The enemy continues its deliberate energy terror. During the night of 20 January 2026, energy infrastructure facilities supplying power to sites in the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone were targeted in a large-scale missile and drone attack.
The Republic of Azerbaijan has delivered another batch of humanitarian assistance to Ukraine’s energy sector, valued at approximately USD 1 million. The shipment includes five transformers, 11 generators, 12 low-voltage panels, and cable products.
First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal expressed his gratitude to President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov for their support and solidarity.
- The situation in Ukraine’s energy system remains challenging. Following another Russian attack on energy infrastructure, power outages have affected consumers in Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, Rivne, and Kharkiv regions. Emergency restoration works have been launched in all affected regions.
