Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine, Anatolii Kutsevol, together with U.S. Senators Richard Blumenthal and Sheldon Whitehouse, visited a CHPP in Kyiv damaged by Russian attacks.
During the visit, Anatolii Kutsevol briefed the American partners on the consequences of attacks on the facility, which before the strikes supplied heat to over 1,000 apartment buildings, as well as schools, kindergartens, hospitals, and other social infrastructure in the capital.
“The deliberate destruction of thermal generation is not just an attack on infrastructure – it is a crime against people. Strikes on CHPPs mean cold homes, halted hospitals, and risks to civilian lives. Russia deliberately uses attacks on energy as a weapon, attempting to deprive Ukrainians of basic living conditions,” emphasized Anatolii Kutsevol.
The Deputy Minister thanked the United States for the humanitarian assistance already delivered to Ukraine, which strengthens the resilience of the energy infrastructure under ongoing attacks. So far, Ukraine has received three shipments of humanitarian aid totaling about 5 tons. The total U.S. grant contribution to the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine amounts to €35.5 million.
