Deputy Minister of Energy for European Integration Anatolii Kutsevol met with Boris Ruge, NATO Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy, Tanya Hartman from NATO’s Political Affairs and Security Policy Department, representatives of the NATO International Secretariat, and the NATO Representation in Ukraine.
The meeting focused on the physical protection of critical energy infrastructure and strengthening air defense. According to the Deputy Minister, the energy system should be treated as a national security element, with military approaches applied to its protection.
“It is necessary to clearly define air defense priorities specifically for critical energy infrastructure, because without proper protection, any restoration work remains at risk from repeated attacks,” stated Anatolii Kutsevol.
The parties also discussed the long-term transformation of Ukraine’s energy sector, including the transition to a decentralized generation model, development of cogeneration and energy storage systems, and attracting private investment to increase energy system resilience.
Following the meeting, participants confirmed their readiness to further develop partnerships in the energy sector, focusing on experience sharing, expert support, and joint project implementation.
