Specific requests from frontline regions ahead of the winter season were discussed during a coordination meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Communities and Territories Development, Oleksiy Kuleba. The meeting was attended by representatives of relevant ministries and agencies, heads of regional military administrations, and representatives of local communities.

The Minister of Energy of Ukraine, Svitlana Grynchuk, together with First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Serhii Kyslytsia, held a special briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for foreign diplomatic representatives in Ukraine and Ukrainian diplomats abroad. The briefing focused on the current situation in Ukraine’s energy system and its urgent needs.

As winter approaches, Russia is intensifying its strikes, primarily targeting frontline regions.

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Communities and Territorial Development Oleksiy Kuleba. It was attended by representatives of the State Emergency Service, regional military administrations, Naftogaz of Ukraine, heat and power companies, and other relevant agencies and institutions.

Ukrainian Energy Minister Svitlana Grynchuk met with the ambassadors of the Group of Seven (G7) countries to discuss the country’s key energy needs ahead of the winter season amid ongoing Russian attacks. The meeting was attended by Serhiy Koretsky, Chairman of the Board of JSC Naftogaz of Ukraine; Vitaliy Zaychenko, Chairman of the Board of NPC Ukrenergo; and Pavlo Kovtonyuk, Acting Chairman of the Board of JSC Energoatom.

In the context of ongoing military challenges and energy instability, Ukraine is turning to innovative solutions to enhance the resilience and independence of its energy system. One of the most promising directions is the development of microgrids, which can significantly improve the country’s energy security during wartime.

Ukraine continues active dialogue with international partners to enhance support for its energy sector in the run-up to winter. Minister of Energy of Ukraine Svitlana Grynchuk held an online meeting with G7+ leaders to discuss the country’s urgent needs and potential mechanisms for additional international assistance. During the meeting, Minister Grynchuk informed participants about Ukraine’s immediate requirements for equipment and resources to enable rapid repairs following recent Russian attacks.

Despite another wave of massive Russian attacks, Ukraine’s power system remains stable and under control. Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Mykola Kolisnyk reported this during the national telethon “United News.”

“The most difficult situation is currently in the frontline regions — Sumy and Chernihiv. In Shostka, repair works and reconnection of consumers, as well as the restoration of natural gas supply, are underway. In Chernihiv region, the reconnection process continues overall,” he said.

Ukraine is advancing its green transformation through collaboration with international partners, implementing innovative energy solutions and accelerating the decarbonization of industry.

This was highlighted by Roman Andarak, Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine, during an online meeting with Yuko Yasunaga, Deputy Director-General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

At the initiative of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, the co-chairs of the G7+ Coordination Group, the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Canada and the European Commission, convened an emergency meeting to support Ukraine’s energy sector following Russia’s massive overnight strike.

During the meeting, the Ukrainian side provided international partners with detailed information on the consequences of the attack, which targeted, among other things, oil and gas facilities.

Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Roman Andarak held a meeting with representatives of the Embassies of the Netherlands and Canada in Ukraine. The main focus of the discussion was the situation at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), which has been without an external power supply since September 23.
