As of early February, 1.4 GW of distributed gas-fired generation has been commissioned in Ukraine, including 1.1 GW connected to the electricity grid and 0.3 GW installed for self-consumption. In January alone, 192 MW of new capacity was brought online.

The Netherlands has announced an additional EUR 35 million contribution to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, bringing its total support through the Fund to EUR 100 million.
The additional funding will be directed to the Ray of Hope initiative and used to install rooftop solar power systems. The project aims to ensure a reliable electricity supply for critical infrastructure - primarily hospitals - even in the event of emergency power outages following Russian attacks.
Under the chairmanship of First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal, a regular meeting of the Headquarters for the Elimination of the Consequences of Emergencies for Kyiv and the region was held. First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal held an online meeting with Artur Lorkowski, Director of the Energy Community Secretariat. The discussion focused on consolidating partner efforts and preparing Ukraine for the upcoming heating season.
Denys Shmyhal noted that since its establishment, the Secretariat has mobilized more than EUR 1.8 billion in partner contributions to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, enabling Ukrainian energy companies to receive critical equipment and specialized machinery.

The Minister reported that the electricity supply situation remains difficult. Energy workers continue emergency repair works at facilities damaged by Russian attacks on the night of February 7, while the scale of destruction remains significant.
Following the latest massive shelling by the Russian Federation, the situation in Ukraine’s energy system remains extremely difficult. Energy facilities in several regions were targeted. Damage to high-voltage substations forced nuclear power plants to reduce generation, and emergency power outages are currently in effect across most regions.
Repair works are underway at all damaged facilities. Energy companies are making every effort to restore electricity and heat supplies to consumers as quickly as possible.
First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal held a meeting with Romania’s Minister of Energy Bogdan-Gruia Ivan to discuss key energy cooperation and cross-border infrastructure initiatives between Ukraine and Romania.
The parties focused on implementing agreements between the Presidents of Ukraine and Romania regarding the construction of two new electricity interconnectors. The technical aspects of the projects were reviewed in detail.
