During a working visit to Helsinki, First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal held a meeting with Prime Minister of Finland Petteri Orpo.

“Finland and Ukraine share a common understanding that energy is a matter of national security. I thanked Finland for its readiness to transfer equipment from a decommissioned combined heat and power plant — a concrete and timely contribution that will directly strengthen Ukraine’s generation capacity,” Denys Shmyhal stated.

The Minister of Energy informed the Finnish Prime Minister about the damage inflicted on Ukraine’s energy sector by massive Russian attacks, recovery plans, and the need to establish equipment reserves.

The parties discussed specific steps being taken to rebuild and develop a decentralized energy system.

Denys Shmyhal emphasized that Ukraine highly values Finland’s practical support. He expressed gratitude for 71 humanitarian shipments of energy equipment with a total weight exceeding 689 tonnes, for the participation of Finnish representatives in events marking the 40th anniversary of the Chornobyl disaster, and for the substantial assistance provided by the Government and people of Finland throughout the full-scale war.
