First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal met with First Vice President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Greg Guyett, with participation of representatives of Ukrainian state-owned energy companies.

- Last night, the enemy carried out a massive missile and drone strike. Eight regions of Ukraine were targeted.

- The attacker used several types of ballistic and cruise missiles — over 70 missiles and 450 strike drones. The strikes were aimed, among others, at combined heat and power plants and thermal power plants in Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Dnipro, which were operating solely to supply heat to residential areas. The enemy is deliberately attempting to leave Ukrainians without heating during the harshest winter frosts.

Under the chairmanship of First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal, a regular meeting of the Headquarters for Emergency Response in Kyiv and the Kyiv region was held. The main focus of the meeting was the restoration of electricity and heat supply.

According to Denys Shmyhal, 63 crews are working on restoring power networks in Kyiv, and more than 220 crews are engaged in restoring heat supply, including teams from Ukrzaliznytsia and other regions. Naftogaz is ready to additionally reinforce the city with 40 more specialist crews.

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal discussed the urgent needs of Ukraine’s energy system with Latvia’s Minister of Climate and Energy Kaspars Melnis.

First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal and Managing Director for Operations at the World Bank, Anna Bjerde, have agreed on further support for Ukraine’s energy sector.

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal held an online meeting with Poland’s Minister of Energy, Milosz Motyka.

Denys Shmyhal thanked the Polish side for its strong and consistent support. He noted that the Government of Poland has delivered 141 humanitarian shipments of energy equipment and contributed EUR 3.1 million to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund. He also expressed particular appreciation for the Polish public’s initiative to raise funds for generators, describing it as a clear demonstration of solidarity and humanity.

- As a result of enemy attacks on energy infrastructure, consumers remain without electricity in the Kharkiv, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, and Cherkasy regions. Restoration works are ongoing at energy facilities damaged by hostile strikes. All necessary measures are being taken to ensure the stable operation of the energy system.

During the meeting, participants reviewed the weekly performance of energy companies and determined priorities for the coming days.

Denys Shmyhal emphasized to local and regional authorities the importance of accelerating the restoration of electricity and heat supply, as severe cold weather has returned to Ukraine.

“Power engineers have restored electricity supply in all regions of Ukraine following a systemic emergency that occurred this morning. All regions are returning to scheduled outage regimes, and high-voltage transmission lines and substations are operating in normal mode. Power engineers acted with maximum efficiency,” Denys Shmyhal noted.
