Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Roman Andarak held a meeting with representatives of the Embassies of the Netherlands and Canada in Ukraine. The main focus of the discussion was the situation at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), which has been without an external power supply since September 23.

Ukraine stands ready to share its experience in countering Russian threats to energy security with partner countries, particularly in Northern Europe.

This was highlighted by Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Roman Andarak during his online address at the meeting of the Nordic Council of Ministers on energy policy.

A critical incident occurred at the facilities of the State Specialized Enterprise Chornobyl NPP in the town of Slavutych, Kyiv region, as a result of Russian shelling of energy infrastructure.

Due to voltage fluctuations, the New Safe Confinement – the key structure that isolates the destroyed fourth power unit of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant and prevents the release of radioactive materials into the environment – was left without electricity.

Specialists are currently carrying out work to restore power supply.

The European Investment Bank (EIB) will provide Ukraine with a EUR 300 million loan to purchase strategic gas reserves ahead of the upcoming heating season. The agreement was signed between Naftogaz Group and the EIB under the guarantee of the European Commission.

Following the instructions of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, continues to work with international organizations to provide full and accurate information on the actions of Russian occupiers at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. These actions pose a direct threat to nuclear and radiation safety not only in Ukraine but also across the wider region.

A new modern customer service center of JSC Cherkasyoblenergo has been opened in Cherkasy in accordance with the corporate standards of JSC Ukrainian Distribution Networks.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Head of the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, Ihor Taburets, the Mayor of Cherkasy, Anatoliy Bondarenko, and the Acting CEO of JSC Cherkasyoblenergo, Vadym Yanenko.

Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Roman Andarak held a meeting with Swedish Ambassador Martin Oberg to discuss cooperation aimed at ensuring the stability of Ukraine’s energy sector, particularly in preparation for the upcoming heating season.

Deepening the partnership between Ukraine and Azerbaijan in the field of “green” energy is an important area of intergovernmental cooperation.

This was emphasized by Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Mykola Kolisnyk during the roundtable “Azerbaijan – Ukraine: New Partnership Opportunities in the Field of Pumped Storage and Renewable Energy,” organized by the Azerbaijan-Ukraine Energy Association. The event was also attended by the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Yuriy Husiev.

In the Chernihiv region, under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko, a meeting of the headquarters on the preparation of housing, utilities, and energy sector facilities for the autumn-winter period was held.

The United Kingdom is providing an extra €48.7 million to Ukraine Energy Support Fund, bringing its total contribution to €150.6 million.

The grant funds from this tranche will allow the implementation of a range of measures to strengthen Ukraine’s energy resilience, including the repair of critically important networks, protection of key energy assets, and support for renewable and decentralized energy solutions.
