Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Roman Andarak participated in a special meeting of G7+ leaders on energy support for Ukraine.
He briefed partners on the challenging situation in Ukraine’s energy sector, which has arisen as a result of combined, targeted Russian attacks on critical infrastructure facilities.
“With the start of the heating season, the enemy has intensified its strikes,” noted the Deputy Minister.
Roman Andarak emphasized that the gas sector and the electricity transmission system have suffered significant damage. Additionally, Russia has recently increased attacks on railway infrastructure, which is vital for logistics and the functioning of the national economy.
The Deputy Minister thanked partners for the support already provided to Ukraine and outlined the urgent needs of the energy sector, including additional volumes of gas imports, systems for active and passive protection of energy facilities, transformers, mobile substations, mobile generators, and battery storage units.
During the meeting, participants also received updated information from partners regarding support for Ukraine’s natural gas procurement.
