Energy workers are gradually stabilizing the power system after Russia’s latest massive attack, but they need time – Artem Nekrasov

Ukraine’s power system remains under significant strain following the massive Russian attack on the night of 8 November, which became one of the most severe strikes on the energy sector since the beginning of the full-scale war.

This was reported by First Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Artem Nekrasov during a live broadcast of the national telethon “United News.”

“The enemy carried out a massive strike primarily with ballistic missiles, which are extremely difficult to intercept. Out of 45 missiles launched during this attack, 32 were ballistic,” he emphasized.

According to the First Deputy Minister, scheduled hourly power outages are currently being applied across most regions of Ukraine for all categories of consumers. These restrictions will remain in effect until the end of the day.

The most difficult situation is observed in the Kharkiv, Sumy, and Poltava regions. In other regions where restrictions are applied, hourly outage schedules of up to two and a half rotation stages are in place.

As a result of previous attacks, some consumers remain without electricity for an extended period, particularly in the Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv regions.

Emergency restoration works are ongoing in compliance with safety requirements and only after receiving authorization from the military. Energy workers are operating in reinforced mode to restore power supply as quickly as possible.

The Ministry of Energy calls on the population to limit the use of household electrical appliances, especially during peak hours – from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. and from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Postponing energy-intensive activities until after 10:00 p.m. will help reduce the load on the power system and contribute to its stabilization.
