- The situation in Ukraine’s power system remains challenging. Continuous Russian attacks on energy facilities, combined with severe weather conditions, are forcing the implementation of restrictions across the country.
- Overnight, Russia carried out another massive missile and drone attack on the energy infrastructure across several regions of Ukraine. As a result, by morning, electricity was out for consumers in Kyiv city, Kyiv, Odesa, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Chernihiv, and Zaporizhzhia regions. Emergency restoration works are ongoing wherever the security situation allows. Restoring electricity takes time.
- Due to adverse weather conditions, 17 settlements in Chernihiv and Zakarpattia regions remain without power. Repair crews are working to restore damaged networks.
In Ukraine, the second stage of the Create Ukraine program has launched at the initiative of the governments of Lithuania and Ukraine. The program supports Ukrainians with international experience returning to work in the public sector and contributing to the implementation of key reforms.

In Kyiv, energy crews continue restoration work and are gradually stabilizing the power system, moving from emergency outages to scheduled hourly outage plans, said Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Mykola Kolisnyk on the “United News” telemarathon.
In the left-bank districts of Kyiv region, including Boryspil and Brovary, emergency outages remain in effect. Other districts are gradually returning to regular outage schedules.

On Friday, 9 January, during emergency restoration works, a repair crew of JSC Khersonoblenergo came under attack by an enemy drone. One worker was injured and is receiving all necessary medical assistance. This incident is another example of Russia’s deliberate energy terrorism, said Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Roman Andarak during the telethon “United News”.
