During a working visit to Helsinki, First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal held a meeting with Prime Minister of Finland Petteri Orpo.

“Finland and Ukraine share a common understanding that energy is a matter of national security. I thanked Finland for its readiness to transfer equipment from a decommissioned combined heat and power plant — a concrete and timely contribution that will directly strengthen Ukraine’s generation capacity,” Denys Shmyhal stated.

The Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine has received approval from the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission (NEURC) for the implementation of a joint project to increase capacity at the interconnection point with Poland. This decision opens a new stage in expanding natural gas imports from the European Union and will contribute to Ukraine’s further integration into the European energy market.

On 6 July 2026, a joint auction for the increased capacity will be held on the GSA (Gas System Auctions Platform).

During April, Ukrainian power engineers restored electricity supply for nearly 4 million consumers who had been cut off due to Russian attacks and hostilities.

Restoration works were carried out in regions regularly affected by shelling and damage to energy infrastructure. Despite heightened security risks, energy workers promptly repaired networks to restore electricity supply as quickly as possible.

The All-Ukrainian CDTO Forum 2026 brought together over 100 digital transformation leaders from ministries, central executive authorities, regional military administrations, and communities. The event was opened by First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal. Deputy Minister of Energy for Digital Development, Digital Transformation and Digitalization Denys Shuhalii also participated in the forum.

As noted by Denys Shmyhal, digital transformation is one of the key pillars of Ukraine’s comprehensive reform agenda.

- As a result of shelling targeting energy infrastructure facilities, a number of consumers in Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kharkiv regions remain temporarily without electricity supply.

- Power engineers are working in an enhanced mode to restore electricity supply to all consumers as quickly as possible. Restoration works are ongoing around the clock.

First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal, together with Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi, held a meeting on the deployment of autonomous power supply systems in schools and higher education institutions. Representatives of the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine also took part in the meeting.

The Government of Canada has contributed an additional €12.4 million to the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine, bringing its total contribution to over €57 million. These funds are already being directed toward urgent needs of energy companies, as well as repair and restoration of energy infrastructure across the country in preparation for the upcoming autumn-winter period.

Cooperation between Ukraine and Austria in the recovery of Ukraine’s energy sector and the strengthening of regional energy security remains a shared priority for both countries.

This was emphasized by the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal following a meeting with Beate Meinl-Reisinger, Federal Minister for European and International Affairs of Austria. The parties signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.

Denys Shmyhal highlighted the significant potential for cooperation with Austria in both short- and long-term projects.

From January to April, 2,628 units of energy equipment were delivered to Ukraine, including generators, transformers, modular boiler houses, cogeneration units, and boilers.

This assistance was provided by partners from the EU, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Iceland, Spain, Italy, Canada, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, the Netherlands, Germany, Norway, Slovakia, the United States, Türkiye, Finland, France, Switzerland, Sweden, Japan, the Czech Republic, Poland, Cyprus, as well as organisations such as UNICEF/WASH, PFRU, and Volvo.
