Under the chairmanship of Denys Shmyhal, a meeting of the Energy Headquarters for addressing emergency situations in the energy sector was held.

The key issue discussed was preparation for the upcoming autumn-winter period. During the meeting, reports were heard from energy companies on the readiness of power sector facilities for winter, with a primary focus on scheduled and emergency repairs.

“Our strategic goal is to restore 6 GW of capacity before the start of the heating season. In particular, the recovery plan for thermal power plants amounts to 3.8 GW. We are already seeing initial results: 1 GW of capacity has been restored. However, we must accelerate the pace,” Denys Shmyhal stressed.

Special attention was also given to strengthening the protection of energy infrastructure. Work is ongoing both at generation facilities in the capital and at substations operated by Ukrenergo. The Minister instructed the development of a clear implementation matrix for each facility to ensure strict adherence to timelines.

The meeting also addressed the protection of gas infrastructure facilities. The Minister emphasized that stable gas supply is fundamental, particularly for the operation of distributed generation.

In addition, active cooperation with international partners continues. In particular, expenditures under the Ukraine Energy Support Fund have been verified to ensure efficient use of financial resources and equipment.

Denys Shmyhal also presented state awards of Ukraine—Orders “For Merit” and “For Courage”—to energy sector workers in recognition of their resilience and dedication during the massive attacks this winter.

“I thank all energy workers for their efforts, as it is thanks to you that we successfully endured this winter,” he concluded.
