The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine and Verona Shelters Academy Ukraine Sign Agreement on the Implementation of the Shelter Academy Project

Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Oleksandr Vyazovchenko has signed an agreement with Verona Shelters Academy Ukraine, formalizing cooperation within the Shelter Academy project. The initiative aims to strengthen professional knowledge, operational preparedness, and resilience in the areas of civil protection and critical infrastructure security.

Under the agreement, Ukrainian specialists will undergo professional training, including theoretical and practical modules, as well as exercises using specialized shelter equipment.

Roman Andarak: The United Kingdom Remains a Reliable Partner of Ukraine in Strengthening Energy Security and Advancing Clean Technologies

During his working visit to London, Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Roman Andarak held a bilateral meeting with UK Energy Minister Michael Shanks.

Roman Andarak informed his counterpart about the current situation in Ukraine’s energy system under continued Russian attacks, outlining the urgent needs of the Ukrainian energy sector in terms of equipment, resources, and the formation of additional gas reserves.

Restoration of the New Safe Confinement (NSC) Arch: Donor Assembly Coordinates Next Steps

The current status of efforts to address the consequences of the Russian strike on the New Safe Confinement (NSC) Arch and the strategy for fully restoring its functionality were discussed during the meeting of the Assembly of Contributors to the International Cooperation Account for Chornobyl, held in London. Ukraine was represented by Roman Andarak, Deputy Minister of Energy.

Russia Again Attacks Ukraine’s Gas Infrastructure

On 1-2 December, Russia carried out a series of strikes on Ukraine’s gas infrastructure. Enemy drones targeted civilian facilities critical for natural gas production and storage. Fortunately, no energy workers were injured, but multiple facilities sustained damage.

Emergency and operational crews are already on the ground, assessing the impact and working to eliminate the consequences of the attack.

Restoration will begin immediately once clearance is granted by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

 

Artem Nekrasov: Cooperation with the World Bank Is Crucial for Ensuring the Stability of Ukraine’s Energy System

Acting Minister of Energy of Ukraine Artem Nekrasov held a meeting with representatives of the World Bank, during which the participants discussed the current situation in the energy sector, the progress of ongoing joint projects, and opportunities for further cooperation.

Artem Nekrasov underscored that, alongside efforts to eliminate the consequences of recent attacks, the Ministry continues to advance systemic reforms in the management of energy companies in line with European standards.

2025-2026 State Budget: Government Introduces Preferential Gas Price for Cogeneration Units in Frontline Regions

To ensure a stable and uninterrupted heating season in 2025/2026, the Government of Ukraine has approved a preferential natural gas price of UAH 19,000 per 1,000 m³ (including VAT) for electricity producers operating thermal power plants, combined heat and power plants, as well as gas turbine and gas piston units located in frontline communities.

Russia Attacks Energy Facility in Sumy Region – Electrician Hospitalized

A Russian UAV attacked one of the energy facilities in the Sumy region, injuring an employee of JSC Sumyoblenergo.

An energy workers’ crew was carrying out maintenance work when the facility’s territory came under attack by an enemy drone. A substation maintenance electrician sustained injuries. He is currently receiving all necessary medical care.

Germany’s Support Remains a Key Component of Ukraine’s Energy Resilience

Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Roman Andarak held a meeting with a delegation from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, led by Ulrike Hopp-Nischanka, Head of the Ukraine Task Force.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Energy Mykola Kolisnyk, Director for International Relations and Partnerships at Naftogaz Group Oleksiy Ryabchyn, as well as representatives of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), the Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW), and the Embassy of Germany in Ukraine.

We Express Sincere Condolences to the Family of Volodymyr Kosiuk, Who Died at the SkhidGZK Mine

The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine extends its sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of drift miner Volodymyr Kosiuk, born in 1982, who worked at the Inhulskа Mine of the State Enterprise SkhidGZK and died as a result of an industrial accident. Volodymyr is survived by his wife and his 11-year-old daughter.

The body of the deceased was found on 27 November following prolonged emergency search and rescue operations.

The circumstances of the accident are being investigated by a special commission established by the State Labour Service of Ukraine.
