First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, during a working visit to the United States, held a series of meetings with members of Congress and Senators from both the Republican and Democratic parties.

The discussions focused on continued political support for Ukraine, increasing pressure on the Russian aggressor, and deepening Ukraine–U.S. cooperation in the energy sector.

Denys Shmyhal held a meeting with experts from the American Enterprise Institute, where the parties discussed the restoration and modernization of Ukraine’s power system, as well as strengthening its protection and resilience.

Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine for Digital Development, Digital Transformation and Digitalization Denys Shuhalii took part in an international workshop on cybersecurity and physical resilience of energy systems held in Chisinau. The event was organized by the German-Ukrainian Energy Partnership and the German Energy Agency (DENA), with participation from representatives of Ukraine, Moldova and Germany.

Since the launch of the “Ray of Hope” project, solar power plants have already been installed and are generating electricity at 56 healthcare facilities, including 14 in frontline regions. The total installed capacity amounts to 5,219 kW.

Work is currently ongoing at 83 additional sites, with three of them at the final stage. A further 123 healthcare facilities are undergoing procurement procedures.

During his visit to the United States, Denys Shmyhal delivered a lecture to students at Johns Hopkins University, where he spoke about the transformation of Ukraine’s approach to energy security amid the full-scale war.

He emphasized that the scale of Russian attacks on energy infrastructure is unprecedented for modern energy systems and has forced Ukraine to rethink the fundamental principles of energy sector operation. He shared his vision of a new energy architecture and noted that Ukraine’s experience may be valuable for international partners.

Deputy Minister of Energy Valentyna Moskalenko held a meeting with Aida Lindemeier, Director of the Bureau of the International Labour Organization in Ukraine, to discuss cooperation in strengthening human capital in the energy sector.

The ILO announced the launch of a new project in Ukraine, “Protection and Training of Energy Sector Workers for Sustainable Recovery,” with the Ministry of Energy as the beneficiary.

First Deputy Minister of Energy Artem Nekrasov and Deputy Minister of Energy Valentyna Moskalenko took part in a meeting of the Coordination Center for the implementation of Comprehensive Regional Resilience Plans.

The agenda included resilience plans for the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions. Under the approved documents, more than 340 critical infrastructure facilities are to be protected and over 150 MW of additional distributed generation is to be commissioned before winter.

The parties discussed joint projects in the nuclear sector, the supply of U.S. LNG, joint oil and gas production, and other areas of cooperation.
