Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Anatolii Kutsevol held a meeting with representatives of the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine to discuss areas of cooperation aimed at strengthening energy resilience.

The parties paid particular attention to new long-term areas of cooperation, primarily at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant as a unique platform for applied projects in nuclear safety, environmental recovery, and renewable energy.

Anatolii Kutsevol invited the Japanese side to participate in events marking the 40th anniversary of the Chornobyl disaster.

A regular meeting of the Headquarters for the Elimination of the Consequences of Emergency Situations in the Energy Sector was held under the chairmanship of the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy, Denys Shmyhal.

The key item on the agenda was the preparation for the 2026/2027 heating season.

During the meeting, participants adopted decisions to update the structure of the Headquarters’ working groups, identifying the following six priority areas:

The First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy, Denys Shmyhal, took part in the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities under the President of Ukraine, where he presented the development of a new architecture of energy security.

During his address, Denys Shmyhal noted that Ukraine is establishing a network of “energy cells” — autonomous or semi-autonomous clusters where critical infrastructure can continue operating even in the event of damage to the central grid.

According to him, the new energy architecture will consist of three levels:

Following the meeting, participants approved the forecast balance of natural gas supply and distribution for 2026/2027.

According to the baseline scenario, it is planned to accumulate 14.6 bcm of gas in underground storage facilities by the start of the heating season.

Enterprises of critical infrastructure have until 15 April to submit the necessary documentation to ensure that their specialists receive state support for March in the amount of an additional UAH 20,000.

The First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy, Denys Shmyhal, held a meeting with Ukraine’s Business Ombudsperson, Anka Feldhusen, to discuss key priorities for joint cooperation.

Among the priorities discussed were the implementation of corporate governance reform and the attraction of investment into Ukraine’s energy sector.
