On the occasion of Constitution Day of Ukraine, the President of Ukraine awarded state honours to employees of the energy sector whose daily dedication, courage, and professionalism continue to strengthen the resilience of Ukraine’s energy system.

Each award is a tribute to those who, even in the most difficult times—including throughout the challenging winter period and amid constant Russian attacks—restored electricity supply, repaired damaged infrastructure, worked under extremely hazardous conditions, and remained steadfast in fulfilling their professional duty to bring light and heat back to Ukrainian homes.

The Order of Merit, Third Class was awarded to:

  • Yurii Pronyk, Director of JSC Ukrtatnafta;
  • Andrii Dzhuma, Senior Foreman of the Northern Service Area, JSC Chernihivoblenergo.

The Order for Courage, Third Class (posthumously) was awarded to:

  • Dmytro Petlenko, Turbine Equipment Operator at the Prydniprovska Thermal Power Plant, a branch of JSC DTEK Dniproenergo.

The Medal for Labour and Valour was awarded to:

  • Yurii Holych, Deputy Director and Chief Engineer of JSC Ukrtatnafta;
  • Nazar Porokhovnyk, Foreman of the Rivne Regional Network Service Department of the Western Territorial Network Service Directorate, NPC Ukrenergo.

We sincerely congratulate all recipients and express our profound gratitude for their professionalism, unwavering dedication, and resilience. Thanks to people like them, Ukraine’s energy sector has withstood its most difficult challenges and continues to operate despite the ongoing war.

We bow our heads in memory of Dmytro Petlenko, who gave his life while carrying out his professional duty. For 33 years, he devoted his life to Ukraine’s energy sector, beginning his career in 1995 at the Zaporizhzhia Thermal Power Plant. Following the temporary occupation of part of the Zaporizhzhia region, he continued serving the industry. Since November 2023, he had been working at the Prydniprovska Thermal Power Plant. A highly skilled professional, Dmytro played an active role in responding to the aftermath of Russian attacks and restoring damaged energy equipment. On 25 December 2024, he was killed at his workplace during a Russian missile strike, remaining faithful to his professional duty until the very end. His dedication, courage, and unwavering commitment will forever serve as an example for the entire Ukrainian energy community.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all Ukraine’s energy workers. Thanks to your commitment and resilience, light continues to overcome darkness every single day, despite all the challenges.
