Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Roman Andarak held a meeting with the Australian Ambassador to Ukraine, Paul Lehmann.

The parties discussed the needs of Ukraine’s energy sector amid targeted russian attacks on energy infrastructure and explored ways to deepen cooperation to strengthen energy security.

The Deputy Minister briefed the Ambassador on the current state of Ukraine’s energy sector and the measures being taken to restore energy facilities following enemy attacks and to maintain the resilience of the energy system during the winter.

The key topic of the meeting was cooperation to provide effective assistance to Ukraine’s energy sector amid targeted russian attacks.

Ukraine is confidently moving towards restoring and strengthening the energy system, receiving significant support from international partners in preparation for the 2024-2025 heating season. A strategically important meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council at the level of ambassadors was held, dedicated to the protection of critical energy infrastructure.

Under the coordination of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, JSC "Kharkivoblenergo" received five Isuzu brigade vehicles and one Iveco vehicle.

The transfer of special equipment took place within the framework of international cooperation on the provision of technical assistance between the Ministry of Energy and the Japan International Development Agency (JICA).
By the end of this year, the Japanese partners plan to provide additional equipment, including a manipulator tractor and five car towers.

The key themes of the international Rebuild Ukraine Construction and Energy 2024 Conference, held in Warsaw, were consolidating international support and maximizing the engagement of Ukrainian and international businesses in Ukraine’s reconstruction.

At the COP29 climate conference in Baku, Ukraine and the United States announced the launch of three new projects in the field of small modular reactors (SMRs). This partnership will be implemented under the FIRST program (Foundational Infrastructure for the Responsible Use of Small Modular Reactor Technology) 

This initiative represents a strategic step toward achieving global climate goals, enhancing regional energy security, fostering economic growth, and positioning Ukraine for post-war leadership in the use of advanced nuclear technologies.

Members of the G7+ Energy Coordination Group noted Ukraine’s progress in implementing reforms in the energy sector and reaffirmed their ongoing support and assistance in restoring Ukraine’s energy infrastructure with the focus on transitioning to a decentralized and sustainable energy system.

UK energy companies are interested in expanding their presence in Ukraine and participating in the restoration and development of the Ukrainian energy sector.

That was a subject of discussion at a meeting between Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Roman Andarak and Sarah Jones, Minister of State for Industry at the Department of Business and Trade, Department of Energy Security, UK Net Zero, and UK energy companies.

The cooperation between Ukraine and Poland in the energy sector proves the high level of solidarity between the two countries and is of strategic importance for ensuring the stability of the energy system of Ukraine, especially in the conditions of war and constant attacks on energy facilities.

Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Mykola Kolisnyk said this during his speech at the panel discussion "Ukraine - Poland: joint energy projects", which took place within the International Forum of Central and Eastern Europe VIA CARPATIA 2024 in Kyiv.
