Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine, Roman Andarak, held a meeting with a delegation from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, led by the head of the Ukraine task force, Ulrike Hopp-Nishanka. The meeting was also attended by representatives of GIZ and the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ukraine.
The parties discussed the needs of Ukraine's energy sector amid targeted enemy attacks, as well as the coordination of efforts to enhance the resilience of the energy system. Particular attention was paid to regional cooperation and the effective use of assistance.
"We are actively working with partners to provide assistance, coordinate efforts, and exchange experiences. This is a key aspect of our efforts to address crises caused by russia’s aggressive actions. There are many donor assistance mechanisms, among which the Ukraine Energy Support Fund stands out as the most flexible tool. We are grateful to Germany for being the largest donor to this Fund," emphasized Roman Andarak.
The Deputy Minister briefed the German delegation on measures being taken to strengthen the energy system's resilience, including repairs to enemy-damaged facilities, as well as initiatives for decentralization and the development of distributed generation at the local level.
He highlighted that to improve cooperation between municipalities, the central government, and international partners, energy resilience passports are being developed for regions. These documents will outline the specific needs of each region and potential ways to address them.
The need for supporting preferential programs for businesses and households to develop distributed generation, including the installation of renewable energy sources and cogeneration facilities, was also emphasized. The Ukrainian side expressed interest in attracting investments in these areas.
The meeting also addressed issues related to the reform of Ukraine’s energy market and its integration with the EU market.
German representatives underscored that Germany remains committed to supporting Ukraine’s energy sector and is interested in utilizing the most effective mechanisms for implementing cooperation projects.
