Ukraine's Minister of Energy, German Galushchenko, met the delegation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) led by the EBRD Managing Director for Ukraine and Moldova, Arvid Tuerkner. The main focus of the discussion was on securing financing for the restoration and modernization of Ukraine's energy sector amid russian aggression, with an emphasis on developing the distributed generation.
The Minister of Energy expressed gratitude to the EBRD representatives for collaborative projects that strengthen the resilience of Ukraine's energy system and support efforts to buildout of distributed generation.
The Minister outlined key areas where these initiatives are being implemented across the regions. He also emphasized the importance of attracting expert and technical support to install the necessary equipment.
“It is important not only to supply regions with equipment but also to have specialists who know how to connect it and ensure its effective operation. We would be grateful to our partners for stepping up efforts in this direction,” German Galushchenko pointed out.
The meeting also covered the implementation of new financial tools to promote the recovery of the energy sector, the reform of the electricity market, the development of renewable energy in Ukraine, share og which in the energy mix is expected to increase, as well as the development and modernization of distribution networks.
Arvid Tuerkner assured that the Bank will continue working on attracting investments to restore Ukraine’s energy sector and strengthen the country's energy security and independence.
