First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal and Managing Director for Operations at the World Bank, Anna Bjerde, have agreed on further support for Ukraine’s energy sector.
According to Denys Shmyhal, the World Bank plans to allocate up to USD 40 million to NPC Ukrenergo for the procurement of critical equipment required to restore and stabilize Ukraine’s power system. The funding will support urgent recovery needs of the electricity transmission network and strengthen the resilience of the energy system amid ongoing Russian attacks on critical infrastructure.
