Thousands of veterans are currently employed by enterprises across Ukraine’s energy sector, while approximately 6,000 vacancies remain available. First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal stated this during his address at the 9th International Veterans Forum.

“Everyone will be able to apply their skills and experience,” the Minister of Energy emphasized.

At the initiative of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Ministry of Energy, jointly with the Ministry of Veterans Affairs, is exploring opportunities to launch various pilot projects to support veterans, including through formal employment.

“Our veterans policy is based, above all, on respect,” Denys Shmyhal stressed.

Currently, veterans are offered three employment pathways in the energy sector:

Directly within the Ministry of Energy. The Government is ready to offer veterans positions where they can realize their potential and make full use of their skills.

Within the structures of the Ministry of Energy, including the Engineering and Technical Units Department – “38 VITCH,” in areas related to the protection and defence of energy facilities.

At state-owned or private energy companies. Everyone will have an opportunity to apply their skills and professional experience.

Energy companies are already implementing a comprehensive range of measures to make new workplaces more inclusive and adaptable, while ensuring effective integration of veterans into their teams.

“We face ambitious tasks. Our goal is not simply to get through the next winter, but also to build an energy system that will serve as a foundation for Ukraine’s recovery and economic growth. Every defender who joins the energy sector makes it stronger. Ukrainian light will prevail over Russian darkness!” the Minister of Energy emphasized.
