The United States continues to stand as a reliable partner of Ukraine in strengthening energy security and ensuring the successful completion of the upcoming heating season, said Minister of Energy of Ukraine Svitlana Grynchuk following a meeting with U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright.
During the discussions, the parties focused on key priorities for cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector.
“The United States is one of our steadfast partners, helping Ukraine increase its reserve of critical equipment for rapid recovery after enemy attacks, as well as enhance the physical protection of our energy infrastructure,” Minister Grynchuk emphasized.
She briefed Secretary Wright on the current situation in Ukraine’s energy system and the challenges resulting from ongoing Russian strikes on critical infrastructure ahead of the winter period.
“The enemy’s tactics remain unchanged – to disrupt Ukraine’s power supply. Russian forces continue to target our energy facilities. That is why protecting infrastructure and building reserves of equipment and energy resources, particularly natural gas, remain our priorities in cooperation with partners,” the Minister noted.
Ms. Grynchuk also highlighted that Ukraine and the United States share a common strategic goal – to replace Russian oil and gas on the European market.
The two officials additionally discussed the development of nuclear energy. Minister Grynchuk informed her U.S. counterpart about Ukraine’s ongoing projects and outlined opportunities for expanding cooperation in this field.
