Ukrainian Minister of Energy German Galushchenko held a meeting with Japan's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Ukraine, Matsuda Kuninori. The Minister thanked the Ambassador, who is concluding his mission in Ukraine, for the effective cooperation throughout his tenure.
"During wartime, not only diplomatic but also ordinary human relationships are tested. I am grateful for always supporting our country in these challenging times. You have become a true friend of Ukraine," he stated.
German Galushchenko expressed gratitude to Japan for the assistance provided through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), which includes three programs and two projects crucial for preparing for the 2024/2025 heating season.
Since the start of russia's full-scale invasion, Ukraine has received 12 shipments of humanitarian aid from Japan, including 256 backup power stations, gas turbines, autotransformers, gabions, generators, and other essential energy equipment.
Matsuda Kuninori informed about the opening of a representative office of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) in Ukraine and emphasized that Japan will continue supporting Ukraine's energy sector through short-term, medium-term, and long-term cooperation projects.
The Ambassador also noted that a new batch of aid from JICA, including generators, gabions, and gas turbines, will arrive in Ukraine soon.
