First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal said that, according to preliminary assessments, Ukraine’s power system successfully passed through a period of record August heat without the introduction of scheduled power outages.
“We adjusted the schedules of planned summer maintenance at power plants in a timely manner, including at nuclear power units, maximised the use of available distributed gas generation capacity and increased electricity imports. All these measures helped us avoid a power deficit in Ukraine’s energy system,” the Minister of Energy stressed.
Denys Shmyhal thanked all energy workers who, amid extreme weather and security conditions, continued repairing and restoring energy facilities, connecting new generation capacity and strengthening the protection of energy infrastructure.
He also expressed his gratitude to all Ukrainians who responsibly responded to the Ministry of Energy’s calls to conserve electricity and adjusted their consumption patterns.
“Together, we continue working,” First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal concluded.
