First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine — Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal and Polish Minister of Climate and Environment Miłosz Motyka addressed the Ministerial Energy Session held as part of the Energy Platform at URC2026 in Gdańsk.

The session also brought together Norwegian Minister of Trade and Industry Cecilie Myrseth, Lithuanian Minister of Energy Žygimantas Vaičiūnas, representatives of the governments of the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, and the United States, as well as the European Commission, the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the European Investment Bank (EIB), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the Energy Community Secretariat. All partners reaffirmed their unwavering support for Ukraine’s energy sector and stressed the importance of strengthening assistance ahead of the 2026/2027 heating season.

In his remarks, Denys Shmyhal emphasized that Russia’s war against Ukraine has demonstrated to the world how energy infrastructure can become a target and be weaponized against society and the economy. At the same time, Ukraine has gained unique experience in ensuring the resilience of its energy system under extreme conditions and is ready to share this expertise with its partners, contributing to the development of a new model of European energy security.

The Minister underlined that Ukraine’s strategic course remains unchanged, focusing on reforms, European integration, and a shared vision of European energy security. By the end of 2027, Ukraine aims to complete its full integration into the European energy market.

During the Energy Platform, participants focused on four key priorities: strengthening energy resilience and security; advancing the new Energy Strategy of Ukraine being developed jointly with the World Bank; promoting public-private partnerships to build a decentralized energy system; and mobilizing investment while expanding opportunities in the energy market.

I would also like to express my special gratitude to Poland for hosting URC2026, as well as for its solidarity and unwavering support for Ukraine,” Denys Shmyhal said.
