In Zaporizhzhia, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister of Ukraine Yuliia Svyrydenko, a meeting of the Anti-Crisis Energy Headquarters was held. The session was attended by Vice Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine – Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba, Minister of Energy of Ukraine Svitlana Grynchuk, representatives of the Verkhovna Rada, energy companies, the Ministry of Defense, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the State Service for Special Communications.
The meeting focused on the implementation of the approved Action Plan for preparing the housing and communal services and the energy sector for the 2025/2026 autumn-winter period.
Minister of Energy Svitlana Grynchuk emphasized that the preparation of the energy sector is proceeding according to schedule, and in some areas even ahead of plan. “Repair and restoration works at energy facilities are ongoing. By the start of the heating season, 17.6 GW of capacity will be ready for load. Resource stocks are being accumulated, equipment reserves are being formed, and emergency drills are underway. The protection of critical infrastructure is being strengthened, and distributed generation is being developed: this year, 194 MW has already been commissioned, with more than 380 MW expected by the end of the year. All possible scenarios are being calculated to ensure maximum readiness of the energy system for the upcoming winter,” noted Svitlana Grynchuk.
The Minister highlighted that energy companies are enhancing the protection of critical infrastructure, while the military is reinforcing defense in the air. Ukraine is also leveraging international support, including from the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, UNDP, EBRD, JICA, and the World Bank.
As part of the headquarters’ work, participants visited several energy facilities in Zaporizhzhia to inspect the progress of repair and restoration works, as well as protection measures. Minister of Energy Svitlana Grynchuk and Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko also met with energy equipment manufacturers to discuss the sector’s immediate needs and potential state support.
The Ministry of Energy continues to coordinate the work of all key market participants to ensure a stable heating season and guarantee electricity, heat, and gas supply to Ukrainians this winter.
