Ukraine continues active dialogue with international partners to enhance support for its energy sector in the run-up to winter. Minister of Energy of Ukraine Svitlana Grynchuk held an online meeting with G7+ leaders to discuss the country’s urgent needs and potential mechanisms for additional international assistance. During the meeting, Minister Grynchuk informed participants about Ukraine’s immediate requirements for equipment and resources to enable rapid repairs following recent Russian attacks. She also outlined current efforts to restore damaged energy facilities and stabilize the system after another wave of large-scale shelling.
“Although the enemy has changed its tactics this year, its goals remain the same. Russia continues to deliberately target energy facilities in frontline regions, attempting to plunge these territories into darkness and cold. Ukraine’s gas infrastructure has also come under attack,” Minister Grynchuk said.
She stressed that any assistance from international partners is critical for restoring and strengthening the protection of energy infrastructure, building up equipment reserves, and creating additional stocks of imported natural gas ahead of the winter season. “The support already provided by our allies is extremely valuable, and we are deeply grateful for their continued solidarity with Ukraine,” the Minister added. According to Ms. Grynchuk, a list of priority needs to enhance Ukraine’s energy security has already been prepared and will soon be submitted to the G7+ Group for consideration. “The supply of additional air defense systems to protect critical infrastructure, the allocation of extra financial resources, and assistance in the rapid search, delivery, and installation of equipment capable of functionally replacing damaged assets are among our top priorities,” Minister Grynchuk stated.
She expressed gratitude to international partners for their continued support and readiness to deepen cooperation: “I am sincerely thankful for today’s words of solidarity from our partners, their willingness to strengthen cooperation within existing frameworks, and their openness to exploring new tools to enhance Ukraine’s energy resilience.”
