Ukraine’s Minister of Energy, Svitlana Grynchuk, held talks with Canada’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Tim Hodgson.

“This month we have been communicating intensively with our Canadian partners, and between meetings we are actively working on concrete solutions based on the agreements reached. Earlier this month, I also held productive discussions with Ambassador of Canada to Ukraine, Natalka Cmoc, at the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, and with Associate Deputy Minister of Natural Resources of Canada, Jeff Labonté, at the IAEA headquarters. Each time we feel the enormous support of our partners, their understanding of our needs, and their readiness to work together to strengthen Ukraine’s energy sector,” wrote Svitlana Grynchuk on her Facebook page.

According to her, there is great potential to deepen cooperation between Ukrainian and Canadian companies, particularly in hydropower and the gas sector, and plans are underway to expand this interaction.

“We are interested in exchanging experience and implementing joint projects in nuclear energy, in gas extraction and transportation, as well as in infrastructure modernization using Canadian equipment and technologies. We also seek to promote clean and green innovations and strengthen human capacity. We have already prepared a portfolio of potential projects that could be implemented jointly with the Canadian side,” the Minister emphasized.

The parties agreed to continue the dialogue during upcoming meetings. Minister Tim Hodgson stressed that Ukraine’s energy security issues must remain present and visible at events of all levels.

Svitlana Grynchuk invited Canadian partners to attend the ReBuild Ukraine exhibition in Warsaw, where a B2B dialogue between Ukrainian and Canadian energy companies will be organized.

“I am grateful to the Minister for his openness to fruitful cooperation and for the support expressed for Ukraine. I sincerely thank the Government and people of Canada for their solidarity, as well as Canadian companies that are working with Ukraine, in Ukraine, and for Ukraine’s energy resilience,” wrote Svitlana Grynchuk.
