Minister of Energy of Ukraine Svitlana Grynchuk held an online meeting with the Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan, Parviz Shahbazov. They discussed the current situation in Ukraine’s energy system and the consequences of the latest Russian shelling.
“Despite massive attacks, Ukraine is preparing for the heating season: we are restoring infrastructure, repairing equipment, and accumulating reserves. Preparations for the heating season are being carried out according to a clear schedule, including equipment modernization, reserving critical resources, and conducting preventive works,” noted Svitlana Grynchuk.
The Minister expressed gratitude to the Republic of Azerbaijan for the recent delivery of humanitarian aid, which is valuable support for Ukraine’s energy sector.
Mr. Shahbazov confirmed further assistance to Ukraine in response to the threats of intensified Russian attacks.
During the meeting, the participants outlined common priorities for the future and updated the roadmap of cooperation between the ministries and the countries. They discussed diversification of gas supply sources and routes, development of the Trans-Balkan Gas Corridor, and potential export/import of petroleum products.
Svitlana Grynchuk emphasized the importance of involving Azerbaijani companies in Ukraine, both as equipment suppliers and as investors. She expressed hope for a broad representation of Azerbaijani businesses at the 5th International Exhibition and Conference REBUILD UKRAINE in Warsaw in November this year.
“I sincerely thank the Republic of Azerbaijan for supporting Ukraine: the effective work of the intergovernmental commission, joint energy projects, and humanitarian aid that has already exceeded USD 43 million, of which almost USD 12 million has been directed to the needs of the energy sector,” underlined Svitlana Grynchuk.
Ukraine and Azerbaijan agreed to remain in constant contact to exchange up-to-date information and further develop cooperation.
