Ukraine’s Minister of Energy Svitlana Grynchuk held a meeting with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Canada to Ukraine, Natalka Cmoc, during which the parties discussed avenues for expanding cooperation in the energy sector.
The meeting continued the dialogue initiated between the leadership of the two countries — President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskiy and Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney—during the Canadian Prime Minister’s visit to Ukraine in August this year.
“Our countries already have a significant portfolio of joint energy projects, as well as strong cooperation in protecting our critical infrastructure,” Svitlana Grynchuk emphasized
Key areas on the bilateral agenda include nuclear fuel production, implementation of advanced technologies such as small modular reactors, hydroelectric development, cooperation in low-carbon technologies and the oil and gas sector, diversification of gas supply routes, and the launch of joint educational programs to train a new generation of specialists.
The parties also discussed strengthening contacts between Canadian and Ukrainian energy companies to implement joint projects. Ambassador Cmoc noted that Canadian businesses are already exploring opportunities for cooperation with Ukraine, both in Canada and in Ukraine. The parties agreed to intensify efforts in this area.
Minister Grynchuk expressed gratitude to Canada for supporting Ukraine’s energy sector, particularly through the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, which has already exceeded €69 million, as well as through other international mechanisms.
“We highly value this assistance and are committed to further partnership that delivers tangible results,” concluded Svitlana Grynchuk.
