Ukraine’s Minister of Energy, Svitlana Grynchuk, participated in a meeting of the Temporary Special Commission of the Verkhovna Rada, which was convened to prepare issues regarding the strengthening of social protection for citizens affected by the Chornobyl disaster, as well as the use of territories contaminated by radioactive fallout from the disaster.
“We focused on discussing key issues – reforming the management system and optimizing the operations of enterprises in the Exclusion Zone, ensuring fair remuneration for people who work daily to maintain the country’s radiological safety, and prospects for the development of green energy within the Zone,” wrote Svitlana Grynchuk on her Facebook page.
The meeting also addressed the progress of dosimetric certification. This fundamental work will provide verified data on the condition of the territories and allow for a more evidence-based social protection policy for the population.
“I thank the Members of Parliament for the constructive dialogue and cooperation. I am convinced that a systematic approach and effective collaboration between the government and parliament will enable us to implement plans for the revival of the Exclusion Zone as quickly as possible. I am grateful to my colleagues for their readiness to take decisive action,” the Minister emphasized.
