Ukraine’s Minister of Energy Svitlana Grynchuk took part in the G7 Energy Ministers’ Meeting in Toronto, where she discussed with international partners the priority areas of assistance for Ukraine’s energy sector.
Key topics included supplying additional equipment for rapid restoration after Russian attacks and securing financing for gas imports. The parties also considered options for mobile energy and heating systems to strengthen resilience ahead of winter.
“Our partners fully understand the complexity of the heating season and reaffirmed their readiness to continue supporting Ukraine. It is crucial in our fight against the aggressor not to react after the fact, but to act proactively,” emphasized Svitlana Grynchuk.
During the summit, the Minister held several bilateral meetings:
With EU Commissioner for Energy Dan Jørgensen, the Minister discussed expanding natural gas imports for Ukraine and the progress of implementing EU energy legislation.
With UK Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Energy Security Martin McCluskey, Svitlana Grynchuk outlined Ukraine’s urgent recovery needs and expressed gratitude for the UK’s financial and humanitarian support — including the gabion systems provided to protect critical infrastructure.
With France’s Minister of Economy, Finance, Industrial and Digital Sovereignty Roland Lescure, the discussion focused on progress in joint projects and mobilizing financing for new generation and energy storage capacity.
With Italy’s Minister of Environment and Energy Security Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, the parties reviewed the implementation of ongoing joint energy initiatives.
Svitlana Grynchuk thanked international partners for the constructive dialogue and their commitment to strengthening Ukraine’s and Europe’s energy security.
