Minister of Energy of Ukraine Svitlana Grynchuk held a meeting with the IMF mission, where they discussed the current situation in Ukraine’s energy system, preparations for the upcoming heating season, and the progress of reforms aimed at integration with the European Union.

The discussion also addressed recent Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Svitlana Grynchuk briefed her counterparts on the ongoing work to rapidly repair and restore facilities, as well as Ukraine’s needs for strengthening their protection.

“Despite all challenges, we continue implementing EU integration reforms in the energy sector,” emphasized Svitlana Grynchuk.

The parties reviewed the current status of each EU integration reform. In particular, they discussed the integration of the Ukrainian energy market with the EU market, strengthening the independence of the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission (NEURC), and simplifying permitting procedures for renewable energy development. Good progress has been achieved, which has been acknowledged by our partners.

The meeting also covered reforms under the Ukraine Plan, including the continuation of corporate governance reform in the energy sector.

“We agreed to maintain constant communication for rapid information exchange and to continue consultations between our teams. We are working together. I am grateful to the IMF team for their ongoing support of Ukraine. All developments and details in the energy sector will be discussed further during the next IMF negotiation mission,” stated Svitlana Grynchuk.
