Svitlana Grynchuk: For the Government of France, Support for the Energy Sector Remains one of the Key Priorities in Ukraine

The Minister of Energy of Ukraine, Svitlana Grynchuk, held a meeting with the French delegation led by the Special Envoy of the President of France for Aid and Reconstruction of Ukraine, Pierre Heilbronn.

The parties discussed current Ukrainian-French projects in the development of electricity grids, nuclear and renewable energy, and the oil and gas sector, in particular regarding joint exploration and gas production in Ukraine.

“An important part of our cooperation is the Grant Agreement between the Government of the French Republic and the Government of Ukraine aimed at supporting the recovery and strengthening of critical infrastructure and priority sectors of the Ukrainian economy. The total value of the Agreement is EUR 200 million,” noted Svitlana Grynchuk.

The Minister of Energy also thanked France for its contribution of EUR 5.7 million to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund.

The meeting included discussion of the implementation of three joint infrastructure projects in the fuel and energy sector, with a total value exceeding EUR 37.6 million.

Pierre Heilbronn emphasized that nuclear energy is one of the strategic areas of cooperation between French public and private companies and Ukraine.

The partners also touched on the involvement of French private companies in cooperation with Ukrainian businesses, as well as the details of joint work within the Energy Community Fund.

They also discussed the results of the visit of the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic, Jean-Noël Barrot, to the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone. One of the key areas of cooperation between Ukraine and France remains the assurance of nuclear and radiation safety and addressing the consequences of the Russian drone attack on the New Safe Confinement (NSC) Arch.

“The contribution of Pierre Heilbronn and his team to the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone agenda cannot be overstated. Ukraine continues active dialogue with all international partners regarding support for the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone within the framework of the International Chornobyl Cooperation Account ,” the Minister emphasized.

She also thanked the French partners for their tremendous contribution to Ukraine’s energy resilience and assured that many joint projects still lie ahead.
