From January through the first half of September 2026, 53 healthcare facilities started generating their own electricity as part of the “Ray of Hope” project. The total installed capacity of the commissioned solar power plants amounts to 3,800 kW.

Another 125 projects at healthcare facilities are currently at various stages of implementation.

The commissioning of the 53 healthcare facilities was made possible thanks to international support. In particular, 36 facilities were supported with funding from Germany, 8 with support from Sweden, 5 with support from the United Kingdom, 2 with support from the European Union, 1 with support from Belgium, and 1 with support from Canada.

The “Ray of Hope” programme is a joint initiative of the European Commission, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, implemented through the Ukraine Energy Support Fund and coordinated by the Secretariat of the Energy Community.

The programme aims to strengthen the energy resilience of healthcare facilities by providing them with solar panels, energy storage systems and other equipment to ensure reliable electricity supply and uninterrupted operation even under challenging conditions.
