Restoration of Energy and Gas Infrastructure Continues Unabated, Says Svitlana Grynchuk

Ukraine’s energy system remains stable and under control despite daily Russian attacks on critical infrastructure. At the same time, large-scale restoration efforts are ongoing in the affected regions. This was reported by the Minister of Energy of Ukraine, Svitlana Grynchuk, during the national telethon “United News.”

“The situation in the energy system is under control and remains stable, even amid intense shelling and significant damage. The most challenging conditions are currently observed in the Chernihiv region, where energy facilities have been targeted almost daily. At present, three rounds of hourly outages are in effect, but we expect the situation to stabilize in the coming days upon completion of repair works,” the minister stated.

To balance the system during peak consumption hours, power restrictions have been imposed on industrial consumers across all regions. Ms. Grynchuk emphasized that, in accordance with a government decree, enterprises are allowed to import electricity from EU countries, which supports their operations and contributes to maintaining the stability of the national power system.

The Minister also reported on the state of the gas sector. She noted that gas infrastructure has repeatedly come under attack over the past two months; however, restoration of the damaged facilities is actively underway.

“Despite the difficult conditions, Ukraine is entering the heating season with planned gas reserves and the expected volume of imports. Thanks to the coordinated work of the Naftogaz Group and gas transmission system operators, the reserve targets have been fully met,” emphasized Svitlana Grynchuk.

According to her, all technical solutions for rapid response in the event of damage to the gas transmission network have already been developed and communicated to regional authorities. “We have ready-made algorithms for limiting supply, reconnecting consumers, or rerouting gas flows. All regions have been informed and are technically prepared for any scenario. We hope that additional restrictions will not be necessary, but we are fully prepared,” she added.

Ms. Grynchuk also highlighted the responsible attitude of Ukrainians toward energy consumption. Many households have installed generators, solar panels, and energy storage systems, helping to reduce pressure on the national grid and ensure its stable operation. The Minister stressed that such conscientious preparation for winter significantly strengthens the country’s overall resilience.
