The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment of the Republic of Finland have signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of energy.
The document was signed by the Minister of Energy of Ukraine, German Galushchenko, and the Ambassador of Finland to Ukraine, Tarja Fernández, at the meeting in Kyiv.
The purpose of the memorandum is to strengthen cooperation, in particular to create and support safe, clean, and sustainable energy systems in both countries.
The parties intend to cooperate in the following areas:

renewable energy, bioenergy, and clean technologies;

energy efficiency and demand-side management;

flexible energy systems, energy storage solutions, and integration technologies;

nuclear energy and nuclear safety;

hydrogen and “energy-to-X” (use of renewable energy to produce other forms of energy);

energy research and development.
Cooperation will be developed in the area of promoting public and private investment; joint research and development; exchange of experts, technicians, and scientists; exchange of technologies, experience, information, and best practices; promotion of business cooperation, as well as collaboration between innovation agencies, research organizations, associations, and companies.
During the meeting, German Galushchenko thanked Finland for the support provided to the Ukrainian energy sector since the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion. Since March 2022, more than 60 shipments of aid have arrived from Finland, with a total weight of over 600 tonnes. These included transformers, generators, gas boilers, cables, and other equipment and materials necessary for restoration work at facilities after enemy attacks.
