Since the establishment of the Ukraine Energy Support Fund in April 2022, 36 international partners have contributed a total of EUR 1.613 billion to the restoration of Ukraine’s energy sector. In the days leading up to the New Year, additional contributions amounting to EUR 105.74 million were made to the Fund.
The largest of these recent contributions came from the European Commission (€90 million). The United Kingdom transferred EUR 11.42 million, Estonia EUR 2 million, the Netherlands EUR 1 million, Portugal EUR 600,000, Austria EUR 500,000, and Latvia EUR 217,000.
In December 2025 alone, partners significantly increased their financial support, transferring EUR 350.5 million to the Fund. The largest December tranches included a one-time contribution of EUR 160.1 million from Germany, EUR 90 million from the European Commission, and EUR 63.3 million from Sweden.
The funds raised are already being used to procure critically needed equipment and materials for emergency repairs, replace damaged assets, strengthen passive protection, and implement solutions that enhance the decentralization and resilience of Ukraine’s energy system.
In December, the majority of support requests concerned equipment for distribution system operators to restore power grids damaged by shelling, including power transformers, current and voltage transformers, gas-insulated circuit breakers, disconnectors, and related equipment.
“Ukraine is grateful to its partners for this substantial end-of-year support. These contributions will enable energy companies to restore networks more rapidly and strengthen the protection of critical infrastructure following shelling. Each tranche translates into concrete equipment and solutions that enhance the resilience of the power system and ensure light and heat for Ukrainians,” emphasized Roman Andarak, Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine.
