Norwegian support helps Ukraine to restore and modernize its energy sector.
This was emphasized by Ukrainian Minister of Energy German Galushchenko during the visit of the Norwegian delegation, led by Crown Prince Haakon of the Kingdom of Norway, to a Ukrainian energy facility that was damaged by targeted russian attacks.
Members of the delegation, including Norwegian Minister of Energy Terje Aasland, were briefed on the consequences of russian shelling.
German Galushchenko, for his part, expressed gratitude to Norway for its support of Ukraine’s energy sector since the first days of russia’s full-scale invasion.
"We deeply value our partnership with Norway. It involves not only assistance in restoring Ukraine’s energy sector after over three years of ongoing russian attacks. It also includes cooperation for the transformation of Ukraine’s energy system based on the principles of the green transition in the future," said German Galushchenko.
Norway’s total contribution to Ukraine’s energy security amounts to $450 million.
Since March 2022, Ukraine has received 49 humanitarian shipments from Norway with energy equipment weighing over 473 tonnes, including transformers, generators, special-purpose machinery, electro-gas equipment, and other essential supplies.
In addition, Norway has contributed €35.5 million to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, which is used to procure critical equipment for enterprises of Ukraine’s fuel and energy sector.
