In the Chernihiv region, following massive Russian shelling, the number of consumers left without electricity has been reduced by half in a short period of time. This was reported by Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Energy Mykola Kolisnyk during a broadcast of the national telethon United News.
According to him, Russia’s main strike over the past day targeted energy facilities in the Chernihiv region. As a result of the attack, around 332,000 consumers were left without power. “Within just a few hours, energy workers were able to implement backup supply schemes, which allowed us to reduce the number of disconnected consumers to 173,500,” the Deputy Minister noted.
Mykola Kolisnyk stressed that emergency repair and restoration works are ongoing around the clock — immediately after receiving clearance from the military. Additional reserve capacity is being promptly engaged to meet the demand in affected regions.
The situation in the energy system remains dynamic but manageable. “Despite intense shelling, we are maintaining the integrity of the power system and ensuring its stable operation. Based on the impact of the attacks, we are quickly engaging reserve capacities to meet demand and stabilize the operating modes of the energy system,” the Deputy Minister emphasized.
Emergency repair and restoration work continues across the regions. Due to ongoing attacks in most oblasts, particularly those near the frontline, scheduled hourly outages remain in place. At the same time, in some regions the situation is gradually stabilizing, allowing the reduction of outage queues.
“We are responding actively to changes in consumption balance, weather conditions and the operational situation. The system continues to operate stably — despite constant enemy pressure, we are preserving its integrity and maintaining the functioning of the energy sector,” added Mykola Kolisnyk.
