Mykola Kolisnyk: Rational Consumption Helps Maintain the Stability of the Energy System

20 October 2025, 19:50

Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Mykola Kolisnyk took part in the forum “Energy That Keeps Ukraine Going: Will the Energy System Survive the Winter?” organized by RBC-Ukraine.

During his speech, he outlined the current state of the energy system and the country's preparations for the heating season.

Mr. Kolisnyk emphasized that Ukraine's energy system remains intact and under control, despite ongoing enemy attempts to disrupt it through combined drone and missile attacks. He noted that the use of backup power and transmission schemes ensures a rapid restoration of electricity supply when damage occurs, helping to maintain system stability.

“Whereas previously the enemy sought to disconnect and destabilize the system, today it is focusing on regional attacks. Despite this, the integrity of the system has been preserved, and it continues to operate stably,” the Deputy Minister stressed.

The Deputy Minister placed particular emphasis on the importance of rational energy consumption. He noted that amid temperature fluctuations and increased demand during peak hours, it is especially crucial to use electricity efficiently.

“Rational and consistent consumption is everyone's contribution to the stability of the energy system. Even simple actions - such as shifting the use of energy-intensive appliances to evening or nighttime hours - help NPC Ukrenergo balance generation and consumption,” emphasized Mykola Kolisnyk.

At the same time, he explained that power restriction schedules and emergency outages are sometimes unavoidable. These measures serve as necessary steps to maintain uninterrupted operation and ensure the balancing of the power system following Russian attacks on energy infrastructure.
