The cooperation between Ukraine and Poland in the energy sector proves the high level of solidarity between the two countries and is of strategic importance for ensuring the stability of the energy system of Ukraine, especially in the conditions of war and constant attacks on energy facilities.
Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Mykola Kolisnyk said this during his speech at the panel discussion "Ukraine - Poland: joint energy projects", which took place within the International Forum of Central and Eastern Europe VIA CARPATIA 2024 in Kyiv.
"We have related gas and electric infrastructure, similar goals of the green transition and the development of distributed generation. Therefore, the formation of joint projects, interconnectors, and natural gas storage systems makes Ukraine and Poland partners in global competition," said Mykola Kolisnyk.
He added that the Government and the Ministry are open to discussing the actual implementation of projects, in particular increasing the capacity of existing ones and implementing new initiatives.
Gabriela Morawska-Stanecka, member of the Senate of the Republic of Poland, speaking during the panel, noted that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Poland has sent tens of thousands of humanitarian aid shipments to Ukraine, in particular for energy infrastructure needs. According to her, the Polish Association of Energy Engineers estimates that the total amount of aid amounted to about 11 million zlotys.
Mykola Kolisnyk thanked Poland for the help and productive cooperation in the field of energy.
