As of early September, 642.4 MW of distributed gas generation capacity had been connected to the grid as part of the implementation of Comprehensive Resilience Plans. Of this capacity, 587 MW was connected by the regions and 55 MW by state-owned companies.

Of this total capacity, 491 MW has already been commissioned. The Kyiv and Zhytomyr regions, as well as the city of Kyiv, are leading the development of distributed gas generation.

UAH 1.4 billion has been allocated for the installation of cogeneration units under the resilience plans, including UAH 1.2 billion from a new state budget programme. Frontline regions — Sumy, Kharkiv and Chernihiv regions — received the largest share of the funding.

It should be noted that 1.8 GW of distributed gas generation capacity is currently operational in Ukraine. In accordance with the Government’s Priority Actions, 800 MW of additional capacity is planned to be commissioned by the end of the year, including 200 MW by state-owned companies.
