First Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Artem Nekrasov signed a Joint Declaration on launching the Carpathian Energy Education Network on the sidelines of the Carpathian Economic Forum.
The document was also signed by UNICEF in Ukraine, Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas, Kyiv National Aviation Institute, National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”, Dnipro University of Technology, Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University, Naftogaz, Ukrenergo, DTEK, Energy Company of Ukraine, Ukrhydroenergo and the Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine.
The participants agreed to work jointly on:
- developing educational programmes, practical training and internships;
- professional development and retraining of specialists to address the shortage of qualified personnel;
- engaging young people, women, veterans and other groups in careers in the energy sector;
- exchanging experience, training methodologies, educational programmes and other relevant materials;
- encouraging international financial institutions and partners to cooperate.
“Training specialists is an important component of energy development not only in the Carpathian region but throughout the country. The next step should be to launch practical partnerships between businesses and educational institutions to train specialists in line with the needs of new energy projects. In addition, the Carpathian Network is open to expanding partnerships with government institutions, educational establishments, energy companies and international partners. We therefore invite all interested parties to cooperate,” Artem Nekrasov emphasised.
Artem Nekrasov also took part in a panel discussion on the development of regional energy. He presented promising areas for investment, including cross-border interconnectors, wind and hydropower generation, as well as the development of oil and gas infrastructure.
The First Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine noted that in the Carpathian region, Ukraine, together with partners from Slovakia, Romania and Poland, has promising development projects across every energy subsector.
