The development of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure is among the key priorities of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, primarily in the context of strengthening the country’s energy security and reducing its dependence on imported energy resources.
Measures to promote electromobility are outlined, in particular, in the National Renewable Energy Action Plan until 2030, the National Energy and Climate Plan, and the Sustainable Development Goals for 2030.
Given the growing number of electric vehicles on Ukrainian roads and the resulting need to expand the charging network, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine has developed an interactive map identifying the most favorable locations for the installation of EV charging stations. The map has been prepared in accordance with the requirements of Regulation (EU) 2023/1804 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 13 September 2023 on the deployment of alternative fuels infrastructure and the repeal of Directive 2014/94/EU.
This tool will help optimize the development of EV charging infrastructure, particularly along international highways, identifying road segments of 40 kilometers or more that currently lack charging facilities.
The map was developed in cooperation with distribution system operators and electromobility experts and includes data on the most suitable locations, including available capacity, for the deployment of new charging hubs or installation of additional charging stations. This initiative will not only enhance driver comfort and safety, but also stimulate the expansion of the charging infrastructure network, contributing to Ukraine’s transition toward environmentally sustainable transport.
The project supports the development of electromobility in Ukraine and its integration into the European transport network.
