Ukrainian Energy Minister Svitlana Grynchuk met with the ambassadors of the Group of Seven (G7) countries to discuss the country’s key energy needs ahead of the winter season amid ongoing Russian attacks. The meeting was attended by Serhiy Koretsky, Chairman of the Board of JSC Naftogaz of Ukraine; Vitaliy Zaychenko, Chairman of the Board of NPC Ukrenergo; and Pavlo Kovtonyuk, Acting Chairman of the Board of JSC Energoatom.

Minister Grynchuk highlighted the urgent challenges faced by Ukraine’s energy sector: "Today alone, we have experienced more than 26 attacks on our energy facilities. The Sumy, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Odesa, and Poltava regions are effectively under daily enemy fire. Our most pressing need is protection and we require additional air defense and electronic warfare systems to safeguard critical infrastructure. Another key priority is the development of passive physical protection, which has already demonstrated its effectiveness."

Minister Grinchuk also stressed the critical importance of increasing the production of energy equipment. She called on international partners to provide additional equipment, not only new but also used units, to replace those destroyed in Ukraine.

Another priority is the accumulation of sufficient volumes of natural gas, particularly as the enemy continues to target Ukraine’s gas infrastructure. “We have a list of urgent needs, which we are sending to the G7 for further discussion with each country in more detail. I am grateful to our partners for their willingness to work on the quick solutions that Ukraine needs,” Minister Grynchuk stated on her Facebook page following the meeting.
