The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine held a working meeting to plan the development of an electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure network for passenger and commercial electric transport.

The meeting was attended by Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Energy for Digital Development, Digital Transformations, and Digitalization Roman Andarak; Deputy Head of the Board of the Ukrainian Association of Electric Vehicle Market Participants (EV-UA) Vadym Ihnatov; e-mobility expert Maryna Kitina; and specialists from relevant departments of the Ministry of Energy.

The discussion focused on the development of EV charging complexes along national highways and on routes that are part of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T). Participants addressed the technical feasibility of connecting new charging facilities to the power grid, the availability of capacity reserves and supporting infrastructure, and measures to streamline the connection process at the regional level.

The meeting also considered the creation of an interactive map to identify optimal locations for EV charging stations. This map aims to visualize problematic sections of national highways and identify areas where charging stations can be deployed efficiently.

“E-mobility is a rapidly developing sector. Planning and building infrastructure today must anticipate the needs of a new category of consumers tomorrow. Developing charging infrastructure along Ukraine’s key transport arteries will allow our country to move in step with European Union member states,” underlined Roman Andarak. “This is a practical step toward integration into the European transport system, even before Ukraine attains full EU membership.”

The meeting also focused on the feasibility of extending current legislative mechanisms designed to stimulate the development of electric transport, in the design of which the Ministry of Energy has played a leading role
