First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal met with Anna Bjerde, Managing Director for Operations at the World Bank, and Antonella Bassani, World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia. The parties reviewed the results of their joint work and outlined further steps for cooperation. In particular, Denys Shmyhal expressed his appreciation for the preparation of RDNA5 and the implementation of joint initiatives in the energy sector.

Denys Shmyhal announced the launch of joint work with the World Bank on a long-term Energy Strategy. According to him, the document will establish a new vision for the development of Ukraine’s energy system and define a clear roadmap for its recovery and modernization.

“An essential element of the strategy is a scenario-based approach that will determine the role of all types of generation in ensuring the stable operation of the energy system. The key structural pillars of the document should include energy security, integration into the European market, the social dimension, and the strengthening of market mechanisms,” Denys Shmyhal emphasized.

Denys Shmyhal thanked Antonella Bassani, Anna Bjerde, and the World Bank for their consistent financial, expert, and institutional support.

“The World Bank remains a reliable partner in strengthening Ukraine’s energy resilience, advancing reforms, and integrating into the EU energy market,” Denys Shmyhal noted.
