Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Anatoliy Kutsevol held a working meeting with representatives of the European Commission.
The meeting was attended by Benoit Menard, Head of the Economic and Social Policy Division, and Samuel Weinberg, Head of the Economic Analysis and Ukraine Plan Division of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Enlargement and Eastern Neighbourhood (DG ENEST).
The discussion focused on coordinating cooperation in support of Ukraine’s European integration path and reform of the energy sector. Anatoliy Kutsevol assured European partners that, despite the difficult situation in the energy sector caused by massive Russian attacks, Ukraine continues to take all necessary measures to ensure full implementation of the Ukraine Facility Plan.
In particular, the parties reviewed progress on the preparation and adoption of draft legislation aimed at reforming the energy sector. The Deputy Minister emphasized that government institutions, market participants, and parliament are currently working in a coordinated manner to meet the requirements of the Energy Community, and that the relevant draft laws are expected to be considered in February.
Special attention was also given to corporate governance reform of state-owned energy enterprises and the strengthening of anti-corruption measures. The parties underlined the importance of restoring trust and deepening cooperation with international partners to ensure the sustainable functioning of energy companies and to attract further financial resources for the sector.
