The Ministers of Energy of Ukraine and Moldova Discussed Cooperation to Ensure the Energy Security of Both Countries

The Minister of Energy of Ukraine, German Galushchenko, held a meeting with the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Moldova, Dorin Junghietu.

Special attention was given to the issues of energy security for both countries, the development of alternative gas supply routes, electricity supply, and the integration of energy markets. The parties noted the need to coordinate cooperation with the European Union.

The Moldovan side expressed interest in using Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities to create gas reserves for its own needs.

Additionally, issues of cooperation in the electricity sector and possible directions for Ukraine’s assistance in ensuring electricity supply to Moldovan consumers were discussed. The importance of maintaining ENTSO-E limits for the possibility of electricity imports to Ukraine and Moldova from European countries was emphasized.

The parties noted their readiness to continue cooperation in the energy sector, particularly to achieve common European integration goals.
